We are about to "Access Asia" through Language and Literature. What are your hopes and expectations for this unit of study? Give me a clue as to your "mental set". How do you feel to try to learn about India? Do you think we will manage to reach across to another culture? Please offer your ideas of how we can plan for successful learning. I would really like to taste some indian food! I think that we could write to our sponsor child and find out about religion and daily life for Indians. We could read a fiction book about Indians and find out about other stuff like geography and places to visit. This is going to be very interesting![This message has been edited by emstarr (edited 04 October 2001).] Thanks for all those ideas, Emstarr. To get you started, you might like to review these pages: Have fun!

I would like to learn about their education, their lifestyle, their housing and their climates. I am eager to learn about India. I think it is a really good topic to learn. Also perhaps we could learn some of their language and perhaps taste some of their food. IP: Logged |

I would like to find out more about ancient India, for e.g, how many different religions were there back then and has their religion been affected by the western religion. Does it differ?. Does anyone know what the men wore in ancient times? There isnt much in books. I think they wor robes and baggy pants but i'm not sure, please fill me in! OK, FOMM, go here to learn what you asked about - if that's not enough, try scanning down the links on this page. [This message has been edited by cecilia (edited 21 October 2001).] IP: Logged |

- HF: I would like to find out about the history of India because I don't know much, I don't really know about the current events in India so they would be nice to know too. I would also like to know why they find animals like tigers and elephants sacred!
- zoeyp1 : I would like to know more about their culture, like what they do everyday.
Thankyou very much. From Hannah Parker. - FridayOnMyMind : What is the average size of families living together in India? I am assuming that they are larger than the average of Australia which is 2, and the american average, which is 1.5!?!?!?!?
